In April 2004, the BBC published a report claiming "Kerry releases military record", and aired a fawning TV report about the release of "more than 100 pages" of his military record which "paint a glowing picture of a highly praised naval officer" and "should end arguments about his Vietnam service."

How is it "fessing up", unless you show it is correcting a previous report which showed Kerry had better grades than Bush?
The issue I raised was not grades, but whether or not Kerry had released his records. In one report the BBC claimed he had, and in the other it claimed he refused to do so. Clearly one of them was incorrect.
The British media has done its best to portray Bush as an idiot and Kerry as some brainiac.
In short, they now find that Kerry was as smart - or as dumb - as Bush.
But you won't hear them say that now. They say that Kerry thinks a "D" grade stands for "distinction."
Yeah, right.
